The film I Am Here You Are Not I Love You, written, produced, and directed by Aidan Ryan, with cinematography, editing, and co-writing by Mark Anthony Dellas, is a companion piece to Ryan’s biography and memoir I Am Here You Are Not I Love You forthcoming from the University of Iowa Press on May 16, 2025. Both the film and the book are part of a broader effort reintroduce the late visual artists Andrew Topolski and Cindy Suffoletto through the eyes and voice of their nephew and godson, the writer Aidan Ryan. The projects follow the artists Topolski and Suffoletto from their emergence in Buffalo, New York in the mid-1970s through their move to New York City in the mid-80s and up to their passing in 2008 and 2012, respectively.
I Am Here You Were Not I Love You was an official selection at the Buffalo International Film Festival, LA’s IndieX Film Fest, and the New York City Winter Film Festival, earning nominations for best first-time director, best editing, and best documentary short.
